The mission of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival is to support music education through Blues in the Schools, as well as funding scholarships and grants. To date, MBBF has given more than $1,000,000 to students to further their study of music. This year, fifteen students received funds towards continued lessons, instrument purchase, summer camp attendance and college costs.

The following is a list of our eight medallists:

Gold Medallists

Alexander E. Govan
Lia Donovan
Noah Freedman
Gavin Salmon

Bronze Medallists

Adian Sani
Ross Garren

Silver Medallists

Zachary Parkes
Marielle Murphy

We're all very proud of our students and look forward to the impact they will make on the world of music.

A Passion for Youth Education

Founded as a not-for-profit organization in 1985, the MBBF founders' vision placed special emphasis on developing ambitious music education support for youth. Their objective from the beginning was to positively impact talented young people and supportive community youth organizations through funding from Festival proceeds and donations.

Over the last decade MBBF's Youth in the Arts program has touched the lives of thousands of deserving students through generous cash awards, further enabling them to pursue their dreams.

The Monterey Bay Blues Festival Youth Scholarship Program

In 1990, MBBF awarded the first scholarships and in 1995 expanded the program which continues to grow. With great pride, the Board of Directors of the MBBF has been able to witness the growth and accomplishments of the youth these scholarships have supported.

Donation Program

All MBBF grant and scholarship funds come directly from Festival proceeds, and donations from individuals and organizations, for which the MBBF is very grateful. The future growth of MBBF's programs which include expanded funds for scholarships, expanding our Blues in the Schools Program, an education and performing arts center with a blues museum, are contingent upon the growth of the Festival and the generosity of our donors.

The Monterey Bay Blues Festival Board of Directors wishes to thank Festival fans for their support and will strive to present the best in Blues entertainment while continuing to support youth and the arts.

As a result of decreasing state and federal financial support for the arts, MBBF is expanding its Donors program to bolster support for youth in the arts. They also intend to more effectively acknowledge those individuals and organizations that help make their programs possible.

Please contact MBBF to learn more about donation categories and benefits.
